An Introduction to Joyful Practice: An Emergent Philosophy for Falling in Love with Your Work and Building Creative Community
A Talk by Sarah Tavis and Jennifer Berney
About this Talk
Joyful Practice is an approach to writing and art-making that emerged from Sarah and Jenn’s shared desire to liberate their creative process from the values of patriarchy and capitalism. Joyful Practice is not about competition or discipline; it’s about collaborating with the great mystery and collectively liberating our voices and visions. It is an embodied, fluid practice that uses play and curiosity to tap into a flow state. We revel in generosity, intuition, and cross-pollination.
Joyful Practice asks the question: How do we take care of ourselves through creative practice? How can we take care of each other?
In this presentation, we will offer a brief introduction to some of the essential aspects of Joyful Practice, complete with tools and prompts designed to expand your sense of play.
